gifts that can change your lens on the world.  

Tucked in my inbox this week from Ann Voskamp at Holy Experience 

was a link to an Easter project from Janna at Mustard Seeds.

It spoke volumes to my heart.

(Not to mention it involves mud. 

Did I say I have boys?!) 

My search for a fresh perspective was answered. 

 

When 1+1=1

How many times have you heard the words, "I love you.."?  Whispered softly in the dark.  Called out into the wind.  Greeting you at sunrise.  Slurred together in haste.  Poignant, paused, penetrating.  How many times?  How many ways?  From how many voices?  In how many places?

I can't begin to count.  Apparently I can't add either.  Did you know that 1+1=1?

 

I wasn't applying the principle of love to the equation.  Yet my baby boy knew the answer... before he could write those three words, he knew what "I love you..." really represents.  He knew all about fractions and wholes and adding.

I missed you.

So much has happened while you've been gone.

But it doesn't seem to matter now.

Choosing Rejection

I am a new kid on the block of Blogdome and Twitterverse.   This new kid has a couple of  extraordinary, pint-sized cheerleaders.  Being rather scholarly in nature, with a serious bent toward geography, my ten-year-old son is fascinated by my digital world stats, particularly the geo traffic map.  Hits from places like the Falkland Islands and Sakha, Russia launch him straight into a happy dance, atlas in hand.  Spiking numbers on blog hits make his heart pitter-pat. This has been a fun journey to share with him, but every journey has its bumps.  He bounded up over my shoulder recently to see my Twitter followers had dropped.  Bump.  There it was.  What?!  How could that be?  His mama was rejected!?!  "Why?" he asked.  Because I had blogged and tweeted about my faith.  As one person put it, I was "only as good as (my) last tweet" and my last tweet involved faith, faith in God.

We'll Weather the Blast ~ The Long Winter

  Their eyes cannot see through the swirling snow

driven by the relentless gales.

But their hearts see clearly.

They are not alone.

Just Dance

Monday morning sunrise.  Clicking through a mile-long mental to-do list? Stumbling into the week?  Trudging one heavy step at a time?  I can almost hear the millions of dragging feet around the world.  When the journey ends... where was the dance?

I love music.  With or without lyrics, it speaks to my heart when words fail.  When words are inadequate or fleeting, music speaks.  I unfetter my mind from the weight of the world, and my heart moves me to dance.
