Remember when Fridays were comfy nights of ease hanging out with your friends? Saturdays seemed to be reserved for date night... sometimes exhilarating, sometimes heart-breaking, sometimes quietly disappointing. But no matter what was planned on Saturday, Friday nights were that sweet time when you could be you.
We all have those favorite places, things, and people who set us entirely at ease. We've been around the block with them a host of times. Their familiarity feels like a warm hug.
Here are a handful of my Friday favorites:
Pizza straight out of the box loaded with cheese (I'll worry about the scale on Saturday.)
A soft tee, old jeans and a ponytail
A roaring fire (if temperatures even begin to accommodate)
Time outside (either quietly listening to the creek or chasing giggling, breathless boys)
Hot chocolate with marshmallows nearly spilling over the brim of my Mark Twain Dinette coffee mug
Writing... all snuggled up in a quilt through the dark, still hours (even in the summertime)
A ginormous, creamy bubble bath aromatic with vanilla spice
So what are your favorites... bringing you carefree laughter and allowing you to sink into the ease which is Friday?
And by the way, when we're strolling on the prairie, I hope you'll feel every day is a Friday. ;)

Inspired by a sweet new sister friend, Lisa-Jo, who is taking the time each Friday to learn more about one another. Here is my comment to her post today:
I would rather dance in the rain than run for cover.
I would rather create organization than maintain it.
I would rather hear "I love you, Mama!" than the finest orchestra.
I would rather dig in the dirt than have a manicure.
I would rather have a warm embrace than dark chocolate. (And that's saying something!)
Pay her a visit. She'll make you laugh and cry and will be one of your favorites in no time... she's one of mine.

I was honored recently by another favorite friend. Jenny, at Home Is Where You Start From, gave me my first blog awards! These awards allow me the opportunity to share some of my favorite writer friends with you. Jenny, thanks bunches for being the kind, smiling word on my screen so often!
I will take a page from Jenny's book and pass these awards along jointly. It's not easy to choose among all of my favorite blogs to recognize just a handful. If I read a blog, it is likely because it inspires me. However, these sister friends not only inspire with heartsongs on their blogs, but have extended personal hands of friendship.

I am entirely certain I've forgotten someone special. If that someone is you, the box of chocolates is in the mail. ;) Hugs.
