What if?
Quick.
Can you list five? Impulsively.
What if you could change your day, your year, your life?
What if....
Or are you finished dreaming, growing, refining?
Have you stopped viewing life through a lens of possibility and hope?
We are careful not to tread on the dreams of a child.
The story of a child has just begun...
"What if I could be a knight with bulletproof armor?
And I had some darts and things that can guard my castle?
What if I created a jungle?
What if I built a train?
What if I got some Star Wars ships that I don't have?
What if I had a real jet pack?"
"What if I made inventions that could make life better for people?
What if my inventions let you do really neat things?
What if my inventions could pull heroes out of the TV
to help rid the world of crime?
What if I could become the best family contributor in the state?
I really want to be more helpful.
What if I could have a website just like you,
and I could get acquainted with people,
and we could teach people God's messages?"
What if?
I read their lists out loud.
I look into their eyes as they listen,
hearing their dreams given voice.
Their eyes dance.
They smile with their entire faces.
What if?
What if I soar with them?
What if I said,
"Maybe later,"
"Next time,"
"In a minute,"
less?
In this moment I found out.
I saw life through innocent eyes.
I dreamed big dreams.
I saw blank pages crisp and new,
ready for what comes next.
What if, my friend?
Or have you closed the book before your story plays out?

Joining my sweet friend, Bonnie Gray, at the Faith Barista, for another fresh cup of truth and perspective. Bonnie issued a challenge last week to write five "what if" ideas, choose one, and live it out. In the process I realized my two most important "what if's" are to live in the now... not the "in a minute". Too often that minute never comes. I was reminded to explore the world through the lens of wonder we have as children... which at some point we seem to cast away. When I put those two "what if's" together I hold an amazing gift... fully experiencing life through the discovery of my children... before those fleeting, precious moments are gone. We know this. Yet we forget... we put it off... we put them off... until it's too late. I don't want to miss a moment.
Bonnie has a Barnabas heart. I hope you'll get to know her better through undoubtedly one of the most inspirational 90 seconds of video you'll ever view, and vote for her. Join her today to see what happened when others took the "what if" challenge.
